This week in 1977: James Hunt gets first win of the season

This week in 1977 finds defending Formula One world champion James Hunt winning the British Grand Prix.
Hunt recovered from a rough start, battling all the way back from fourth to take the lead by lap 22.
His closest competitor and rival, Niki Lauda, finished in second place, behind by 20 seconds.
Hunt covered a total distance of 199.3 miles in 1 hour, 31 minutes and 46.06 seconds with an average speed of 130.36 mph. The win was also special for him because it came in front of his home crowd.
With the victory, Hunt moved up to fifth place in the standings with seven races to go in the season.
Lauda would end up winning the Drivers' Championship that season, while Hunt would finish fifth.
Ferrari (with the help of Lauda) would win the Constructors' Championship for the 1977 season, dominating the field with the next closest team being Lotus-Ford.
